Paris
Paris has too many Places to visit to mention...Some of our
favorites:
Eiffel Tower
"Daring and sublime; iron reborn as lace."—Mosaic artist Sharon
Tompkins. Tip: go at night to avoid the crowds (open until 11:45
p.m., 12:45 a.m. in summer), see 20,000 flashing lights switched on
the first ten minutes of every hour at night.
Louvre
One of the world's greatest art collections; old master paintings,
renowned collections of ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Etruscans,
Greeks; tapestries, jewels. Tip: avoid the long lines around the I.M.
Pei Pyramid: there are three other entrances;
Notre Dame
Paris's splendid Gothic cathedral begun in 1163 (and finished 87
years later); sculpted doors; huge 13th-century southern rose
window; flying buttresses; grand organ that plays every Sunday
afternoon at 4:30 except during Lent. Fee for 255-step climb up bell
tower for city view. |

Rome
Pantheon
"A magical space, expansive, evocative, and peaceful."—Ann Wise,
Rome-based journalist. Rome's most intact ancient monument; a
massive sphere designed as a pagan temple by Emperor Hadrian in A.D.
125; remained the world's largest concrete dome until the 1990s;
houses the tombs of painter Raphael and 19th-century Italian king
Vittorio Emanuele II.
Vatican
"A major concentration of world art in one of the world's smallest
sovereign states; don't miss the tomb of St. Peter, under the
Basilica."—Ann Natanson. Seat of the Catholic religion. Highlights
include St. Peter's Basilica, with its "Pietà" by Michelangelo; a
lifetime's worth of masterpieces in the Vatican Museums, from
Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel to Raphael's masterpiece The
School of Athens; and papal tombs |

district where Berlin Wall once stood; theaters, hotels, bars,

Tuscany
San Gimignano - San Gimignano is a charming hill
town of 7000 inhabitants, which has preserved its medieval
appearance more completely than any other town in Tuscany stands 334
mts above the sea level on the site of a small Etruscan settlement
dating from the Hellenistic period (third to second BC). Its history
begins around the Tenth Century.
Montalcino -This small town (567m, pop 5030) is
situated on a hill covered with olive groves and the famous Brunello
vineyards dominating the Asso, Ombrone and Arbia valley, a must is
to visit the local wineries. Make it a point to stop by La
Togata Winery, one of MDM's Wines from Italy.
Bagno Vignoni - This is a small spa (306m) of
medieval origin, although it was already know in Roman times, the
fascinating tiny village is clustered around a large pool closed on
three sides by the town walls, one metre and a half tall whith water
that flows at 52°.
Chiusi - Chiusi's
origin dates back to the first millennium before Christ. In the 6th
century B.C. Clevsin or Chamars (Chiusi's Etruscan names) was one of
the 12 most important cities in the Etruscan federation, and under
King Porsenna Chiusi reached its peak when the Etruscans fought and
defeated the Romans
