1.  Can I ensure my vacation?
Yes, and it is a good practice to do so.

2.  Does my American insurance cover me in Mexico?
No. Some American and Canadian insurance companies will offer limited coverage; however, this limited coverage does not Mexico's requirements, and you can be detained without proper insurance from a recognized provider. You must carry at least Liability Only insurance.  We recommend the following insurance to safeguard you during your visit to Mexico.
